reflection on ICT as an informative tool
Having gone through college, I have come to highly appreciate the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a tool in learning during my college life. How accessible and convenient it is has completely revolutionized how I learn, research, and communicate. From using ICT, from accessing academic papers to watching educational videos and participating in online forums, my learning platform has been opened wider than the classroom.
One of the biggest advantages of ICT is access to information instantly. With just a click, I can gain access to a world of academic resources using search engines such as Google Scholar, online journals, and university libraries. Not only has this made research easier, but I can also gain more information on various subjects by learning various perspectives. Moreover, websites such as YouTube and online educational sites provide explanations through pictures and sounds that tend to simplify complicated ideas.
ICT also supports independent learning, which is particularly useful at college, where independent study is anticipated. Resources such as digital libraries, e-books, and online courses enable me to learn autonomously, practice material I find challenging, and follow specialist areas of interest. The autonomy has helped me to be a more active and motivated learner.
Besides, ICT facilitates collaboration and communication. Discussions in class and collaborative projects are typically handled by means of tools like Google Docs, Microsoft Teams, and learning management systems. Digital literacy has also become as vital as gaining subject knowledge. Also, there remain technological disparities, and not every student has an equal opportunity to use these tools, which could be learning hindrances.
